“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods
Spend a day getting back to nature using ceramic bisque beads as your canvas to sculpt a day at Walden’s Pond. It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful. Explore the potentiality of different forms of Fine Silver Metal Clay to create rich silver beads or pendants. Ever adventuresome Trish will take you on an exploration on how to combine the medium of ceramics with metal Clays and various other inclusions. She will demonstrate torch firing elements to add to the ceramics and how to add glass or stones. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a highly skilled Instructor in creating your own unique fine silver embellished ceramic center pieces for beaded or jewelry projects.
Students will create stunning art to wear sculptural forms using both hot and cold processes to finish. The morning will concentrate on silver clay application to the bisque ware to ensure a strong bond and what works best. Direction on how to sculpt organic forms for more three-dimensional effects will be demonstrated. Part one of the project will be completed and dried to fire during the lunch break.
In the afternoon students will have the option to use cold processes using mixed media methods such as; torch firing elements to add as inclusions to the ceramics, color, mineral accents, resins and various alternative finishes. Come ready to play with the process.
There will be a demonstration for students interested in knowing how to create end cap clasps for Kumihimo or other cordage.
